Despair everywhere you look (open)

Monitors beeped in various tempos while the murmurs of patients intermingled. Some were the shallow breaths of the weak, some the gruff exhale of tv watchers, while others the snores of the weary. One room was filled with a different set of people; a family. Their expressions were crestfallen, one individual's wet face was burrowed in palms. This person was a woman, a mother and her tears poured at the sight of a white sheet overtaking a small figure.

Who was the figure laying idly in his bed? Why did his family weep when his form stood before them? A young boy clad in a hospital gown watched the scene perplexed. A doctor approached the mother and words of condolences were exchanged before leaving to give the family time to mourn.

The boy called out to his mother and she didn't respond. He called out to his brother and the tall figure didn't even look his way. His brows furrowed in worry and decided to approach his mother then. When he reached out for her shoulder, his small fingers passed through her solid figure. Panic had began to overtake him and he tried a second time to no avail. W-what?

Another person approached the covered figure and pulled back the sheets. What was revealed was a badly burned figure. The boy barely noticed the sad shake of the person's head before recovering the face.

Then one by one the family exited the room. This shouldn't be happening Tears now stained round cheeks as he cried out to his relatives to stay. They shouldn't be doing this! They shouldn't be abandoning him!

The sobbing woman final rose to her feet and turned to leave. No, not her too. D-don't- cried an outraged boy as she reached for his mother.

It was at that moment a black limb materialized into the human realm through a portal. A large heavy palm crashed to the floor, causing the cement to splinter from the force. What came next was the skull of a bull. Its massive crone twitched to and fro as it emitted a gurgled moaned that could have been mistaken for a sob.

Fully conjured, this figure stretched to the ceiling of the room. It was so tall, it was subjected to a squat. The figure was scrawny but it's muscles lean. One could see the bulge resonating from this Hollow's two pairs of arms.

The mother let out a shriek before turning to run only to be captured when an arm shot out to retrieve her. As its arm retracted, it let out another gurgle murmur.
